African-American Studies has evolved into an important part of the American educational structure. Interdisciplinary in nature, it provides all students with the opportunity to research and comprehend the history, 政治, and culture of African Americans. This interdisciplinary field of study is designed to give students a broader perspective on the current political, 经济, and social interactions in American society.

The AAST curriculum is interdisciplinary in nature. The program introduces students to the interdisciplinary study of people of African descent in the United States and the African Diaspora. The curriculum at ODU draws from the disciplines of Art, Communication, 跳舞, 英语, 地质, 历史, 文学, 音乐, Political Science, 心理学, 社会学, and 女性 Studies.

Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of 艺术 – African-American and African Studies

The African-American and African Studies (AAST) program offers the Bachelor of 艺术 and Bachelor of Science degrees. The Institute for the Study of Race and 种族 offers a variety of courses that satisfy the requirements for a minor in African-American studies.
